Search Technology Center Asia (STCA)
STCA was founded in year 2005 and is now starting the second “Five-Year Plan” after the merge with the Ads Platform Center in 2011. The team has not only built up its strengths and expanded its scope, but also set a shared goal, broadened its vision, and equipped with richer resources that gives the team the confidence to scale new heights.
STCA is now focusing on the following areas: the continuous exploration of Bing search technology; the technical innovation of online advertisement services; the development of the MSN social platform; the development of mobile search applications and Speech technology. Today, STCA has hundreds of excellent employees and is the largest R&D team of the Microsoft Online Service Division outside the United States.

Want to work on a fast-cycle, high visibility, hardcore search team with ambitious goals. Internet search is one of the highest impact and most technically challenging projects in the computer industry. Our mission is to delight the customers by delivering the most relevant results in a way that helps them find what they are looking for, fast. We work on technology and products that are critical to our company’s success and at the heart of the customer experience of the internet.
Roles & Responsibilities:
As a Software Development Engineer, you will work with PM and Test teams to design, develop, and deliver high quality online features. You must be able to innovate and work with PM/Test to come up with feature design and execute well to deliver features on time against milestones.
Makes appropriate design and architecture trade-offs for a feature
Ensure code quality
Has code reviews with other developers to surface design and implementation issues
Identifies risks and dependencies in the schedule for a feature
Writes unit test and fully leverages the automatable system for a feature
Accounts for the performance, operation and serviceability of the feature
Understand user intent and drive fundamental improvement of our online service
Ensures customer and partner quality resolutions, solves customer/partner problems in a timely manner
Required Qualifications:
- You should possess a strong technical background and a good grasp of software engineering principles, proven track record of working well with PM/Test in a product group, exceptional problem solving, design, and programming skills,. You should be self-motivated and self-directed. Excellent interpersonal communication skills, written communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment are very important.
Additional qualifications for this position include:
- Experience in designing, developing and shipping high quality software systems and services
- Demonstrated experience driving for results in a cross-group/team project
- Ability to quickly understand new technology and applications
- Passion for shipping a high quality software systems and services
- Experiences in large scale online services engineering and operation or mobile software development a strong plus
- A BS or MS degree in Computer Science or related field
Knowledge and experience in any of the following areas is preferred: HTML5/JAVASCRIPT, ASP.NET, C# and .NET platform coding (or equivalent technologies), distributed content caching and storage systems, SQL Server database design (or equivalent NOSQL:/ SQL storage), Data Mining and Analytics, Machine learning, large scale distributed systems, High Performance Computing, Cloud computing, etc.
Knowledge and experiences in smart mobile app development and social network & application development is a plus.
