Title: Researcher/Associate Researcher/Developer position for Information Visualization

Location: Beijing, China



Microsoft Research Asia (MSRA) is looking for strong, passionate researchers and developers at different levels in the areas of visualization, visual analytics, data-driven storytelling, and human-computer interaction. You will work on exciting and challenging projects to make data and analytics more accessible to users through R&D of novel technologies, experiences, and systems for data visualization, data exploration, and data analysis.

Qualifications for Researchers:

• PhD degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or equivalent field

• Good research track record in related areas, with evidence through academic publications and services

• Extensive and deep research experience in, and familiarity with, the literature and the state-of-the-art research/practice in related areas

• Demonstrated ability to develop research agendas and carry out research tasks independently and/or with collaboration

• Good communication and presentation skills in written and oral English

• Good implementation skills as a strong plus

• Hands-on tech-transfer experiences and/or project management skills as a strong plus

Qualifications for Developers:

• Master or PhD degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or equivalent field

• Solid knowledge of data structure/algorithm

• Proficient web front-end implementation abilities using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and commonly used frameworks and libraries

• Familiarity with visualization knowledge, development libraries and toolkits, and/or graphic design tools as a strong plus

• Good communication and presentation skills

• Knowledges and experiences in database, data mining, and machine learning as preferred

• Familiarity with engineering process as a strong plus

• Hands-on project management skills as a strong plus
