Position: Software Integration

Division/Department: VGC R&D Technology Asia / Group R&D

Location: Beijing

Main goals and objectives:

The core mission of this position is to integrate self-driving software into Volkswagen Group vehicles. The position will contribute to the overall success of R&D projects by safeguarding the smooth integration and running of self-driving / parking software within Volkswagen Group vehicles. The close alignment with relevant R&D stakeholder in China and at HQ is within the scope of this position. Also, objective of this position is to analyze the self-driving software capabilities of external partners after integration in Volkswagen Group vehicles.

Your Responsibilities:

The position is responsible for the described scope and tasks within the Group R&D department of Volkswagen Group China.

？ Integrate and validate chassis and vehicle motion control systems for autonomous cars that is either developed by Volkswagen Group or external partners

？ Create and run software that stresses the self-driving compute platform (performance, error injection, reliability, etc.)

？ Work on diverse set of sensor data including data from GPS/IMU, LiDAR, radar, HD maps, high resolution imagery, or program algorithms for accurate vehicle localization

？ Grow a fundamental understanding of the technologies incorporated into Volkswagen Group’s self-driving vehicles

？ Perform in-vehicle test, evaluate quality, and propose corrective measures

？ Engage with software and hardware engineers of the autonomous driving / parking project team and external partners

Our Requirements:

Necessary education:

？ Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronical Engineering, Robotics or equivalent

Personal skills:

？ High focus on problem solving and delivering added-value to the product

？ Good communication skills (written, oral and visual)

？ Motivated team player with inner drive to learn and foster the development of others

？ Ability to adapt to new situations in a fast-changing environment

Working experience (in years):

？ +3 years (Bachelor) / +2 (Master) of relevant work experience with, for instance, signal distributing systems

？ Experience in at least one of: Robotics research (e.g., planning under uncertainty, probabilistic robotics, optimal control), AI, Computer Vision, Data analysis at scale, Machine learning at scale

？ Experience with machine learning algorithms and frameworks such as Caffe, Torch, Theano and TensorFlow

？ Experience working in the following areas: Kernel development, self-driving vehicles, GPU technology, deep learning

？ Proven experience in software and algorithm development preferably for embedded systems, CAN controllers, and automotive ECUs etc.

Remarks (Language, IT Knowledge, Certificates etc.):

？ English fluent

？ Chinese fluent

？ Optional/ preferred: German fluent

？ Experience in data structures and advanced algorithms

？ Experience programming in C, C++, and Python

？ Debugging skills in Linux, QNX or similar operating environment.
