Job Purpose:

- A key position within the Greater China region that supports the regulatory team to uphold RICS’ Royal Charter to regulate the profession.

- The post holder will contribute to the delivery of the region’s regulatory assurance capacity. This will be achieved through proactive risk-based monitoring, investigation and disciplinary casework skills, in accordance with quality standards and key performance indicators, and through the use of written and verbal guidance, and assistance to RICS professionals, regulated firms, key stakeholder groups and the broader public.

- A contribution will also be made to wider Asia Pacific regulatory teams and the shared objectives in relation to stakeholder adoption, annual compliance and the development and/or implementation of regulatory programs.

Key Responsibilities:

- Perform all casework and other functions in compliance with the department’s operational procedures, service level agreements and key performance indicators, as agreed by the regulatory board, whilst ensuring that thought is given to RICS’ Rules of Conduct, Regulations, Bye-laws and relevant Professional Standards.

- Provide guidance, information and support to complainants and the wider public about RICS Regulation in order to maintain the confidence in RICS professionals and regulated firms.

- Provide guidance, information and support to RICS professionals and regulated firms to educate and assist with their ongoing compliance with RICS requirements and standards.

- Perform initial review and analysis enquiries, regulatory intelligence or complaints against RICS professionals or regulated firms, to identify potential breaches in the Rules of Conduct and progress/escalate matters accordingly.

- Support the development of regulatory initiatives including, but not limited to, the growth of RICS Valuer Registration.

- Deliver routine or ad-hoc monitoring exercises, based on risk or intelligence, to identify compliance or further regulatory intervention.

- Gather and assess evidence to provide objective fact-based investigations that assess potential breaches in the Rules of Conduct.

- Support Ad-hoc duties commensurate with the grade including, but not limited to, telephone/email/written enquiries, aggregation of regulatory data or critical work areas as they may occur.

- Take a proactive approach to personal development through your own Continuing Professional Development.

- Manage personal conduct, risk mitigation and upholding the reputation of RICS in line with company policies.

Requirements:

- Demonstrable experience of working in a similar role or an ancillary role that provides a complimentary platform for development.

- Spoken and written English will be at a level that is coherent, accurate and complimentary to a professional environment.

- Application of analytical and problem-solving skills involving complex tasks, concepts or scenarios.

- Communication that is confident whilst being sensitive to the needs of the topic or audience.

- Understanding of the principles of a profession regulating the conduct of its own members instead of relying on outside entities, in order to advance the interests of the general public including clients of the professions, and not solely the interests of the profession.

- Appropriate prioritisation and workload management to achieve performance expectations.

- Resilience and willingness to take forward a change and remain flexible to shifting demands.

- Developing and maintaining professional relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders/counterparts.

- Degree or equivalent professional experience.
