CONTENT DEVELOPER - BEIJING
A. Purpose of the Role: Describe what would not happen if this job did not exist
The Content Developer is accountable for the quality and currency of assigned PG titles and the planning and management of assigned content and product development projects. This accountability extends to ensuring we have preference with authors and customers in our works to maximize sales. There is responsibility for the commercial success of each project undertaken or service commissioned and for revenue growth through new content, feature development or content improvement that drives new sales, new revenue streams, increased retention or increase in customer value.
The Content Developer will achieve this through collaboration with:
? Internal: Head of Content China; PG product manager; PG legal writer; PG legal editor; Sales Manager and Team; Marketing Manager.
? External: Authors – Practitioners, Academics, Judiciary etc; Business Partners;
Primary responsibilities include:
1. Business Plan: Develop and implement an annual business plan for the content development of Research products and new product projects assigned as an outcome of regular product review processes, discussion with PG managers and other stakeholders, and market knowledge.
2. Business Cases: Prepare and present business cases for new content and product development projects at monthly product development meetings.
3. Product Development& content commissioning: Identify opportunities for existing or new titles to be published or accessed.

Content Management & Development
Develop and implement an annual business plan for the content development of Research products and new product projects assigned as an outcome of regular product review processes, discussion with managing editors and other stakeholders, and market knowledge.
Prepare and present business cases for new content and product development projects at monthly product development meetings.
Identify opportunities for existing or new titles to be published or accessed. Plan prepared/revised in alignment with other stakeholders (see relationships above) to address the market opportunities each year. This plan must be reviewed on a regular basis and any risks identified and mitigating actions explored.
Content proposals and business cases must include market feedback and customer insight, projected costs and revenue, details of the proposed content, and competitor information.
Commissioning – In conjunction with Managing Editors and their teams, commission new content for assigned projects to meet customer needs taking particular account of emerging or changing segment trends within the legal market.
Identifying new product opportunities and identifying and commissioning authors to take advantage of these opportunities. Commissioning (post business case approval) undertaken as agreed with PG manager to meet annual plan schedule or project delivery timelines.
Regular contact and relationships building with customers and potential authors within the legal market.
Relationship Management - Manage key stakeholder and/or supplier relationships, including contract negotiation, as required. Authors or inhouse stakeholders kept up to date with product or project progress and communications regular and appropriate. Standard contracts are issued with any significant derivations to be approved by Head of Content China.
Communication – Build effective relationships with colleagues, customers (internal and external) and senior management to ensure efficient execution of day-to-day operations and strategic plans. Colleagues, customers, and management are aware of key events, issues, performance indicators, and tracking of projects to plans.
Project Management – Manage projects to budget and delivery date. Ensure delivery of all aspects of new content or project works including opportunity and author identification, preparation of business cases, tracking technical development work, contract negotiations with authors or suppliers, and maintain view of production process required. Projects proactively managed, key milestones communicated and tracked, and outcomes delivered.
Regular reports on all current projects identifying any risks at the earliest opportunity and developing mitigating plans for these risks.
Market knowledge - Liaise regularly with sales and marketing colleagues to seek feedback and validation of product and project ideas.
Undertake market research with external customers to ensure that all proposals meet the needs of the market and maintain a strong level of current awareness to enable identification of market opportunities and achieve first to market status wherever possible. Broad knowledge of legal market maintained.
Appropriate customer insight tactics used to test innovations, improvement or content development plans.
Marketing - Support the marketing department in preparing promotions related to each assigned title or project. Provide detailed information on each development to marketing and sales to ensure the development’s commercial targets are met. Marketing strategies developed in conjunction with marketing team that meet brand standards and attain commercial targets.

D. QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE
? Candidate must have a Degree and Major in Law;
? Candidate must have 2-3 years working experience in relevant legal or law institutions; ( note: lawyers from middle-large law firm or legal in house from multinational company are preferred, such as Deheng law firm)
? Familiar with corporate or compliance or M&A legal issues;
? Ability to handle product development projects; Excellent communication & Strong relationship-building skills ( note: Relevant experience in commissioning/product development and editorial processes is preferred)
? PRC Bar license will be an added advantage.
? Good literacy in Mandarin & English
