REPORTS TO: HSA Project Manager

1 MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

The main purpose of the Project Coordinator-Humane and Sustainable Agriculture (HSA) role is to provide support to the campaign to end the suffering of animals farmed for food, and put the welfare of animals at the heart of farming in the China context.

2 POSITION IN ORGANISATION

· Reports to HSA Project Manager, China

· Works closely with regional (Asia Pacific), and country staff on project campaigns and activities.

· Coordinates with external stakeholders including governments, IGOs, and NGOs

4 QUALIFICATIONS

· Degree level or equivalent.

5 PERSON SPECIFICATION: EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

· Minimum 5 years working in a campaign, advocacy or government relations related post

· Good knowledge and understanding of international and regional farm animal welfare issues

· Good knowledge and understanding of China farm animal sector, and meat food production chain

· Experience working internationally and in a multi-cultural environment

· Strong knowledge of global and regional socio-economic, political and environmental issues

· Experience in project coordination

· Proven track record of building and maintaining positive relationships with diverse external stakeholders in order to create change

· Strong interpersonal, networking and organisational skills

· Excellent communications skills (written, oral and presentation)

· Flexible to travel at short notice

· High organised, ability to work to strict deadlines

· IT/computer literate using Microsoft packages e.g. Word, Excel and PowerPoint

6 DUTIES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Support

· Support HSA Manager on projects development and implementation

· Support HSA Project in building up the case study to address the specific areas, including existing humane slaughter, and model farm projects, etc.

· Conduct related policies analysis and monitor the industry trend

· Contribute to the development of Asia Pacific regional policies, guidelines and standards relating to HSA

· Support HSA Manager on coordination with WSPA China, international and Asia Pacific regional colleagues in project initiatives by providing input as appropriate.

· Monitor the sensitive issues that could impact HSA work and advise HSA Manger

· Work collaboratively with the Asia Pacific HSA Team to support delivery against campaign objectives

· support HSA Manager to implement proactive relations with related stakeholders

· Implement strategic campaigning activities tasked by HSA Manager

· Work with consultant/scientist to deliver project outputs

· Participate in and contribute to the WSPA China HSA strategy

· Take initiative in supporting the consistent and high quality project delivery across HSA projects in China

· Support the HSA Manager in addressing alignment, compliance and quality issues, and needs of the team in relation to HSA work.

OTHER

· Able to travel and work nationally and internationally.
