SUMMARY OF JOB:

· Manage and execute locally new product management, development & launches, per process & system;
· Support product management work for regional development projects in the appropriate development tracking tools;
· Manage engineering to order and customization projects as project manager, by working with design, business development, sales, purchasing, vendor, customers etc;
· To be the product expert and support related teams by providing them with technical and product expertise upon request;
· Analyze regional trends in the market, competition and customers for the datacenter environment and network environment (IT manager);
· Learn trends in the way customer access the solutions - channel , System Integrators, etc;
· Collaborate with the global product management teams to develop the road map, lead business cases for new product concepts and lead product definition development;
· Support and manage Region to launch new products and sales tools;
· Key Focus – Cooling Solutions Customization business – Cooling Solutions Product Management Support , and Global product support as required;

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Product and Project management
· Create product development roadmap for China market;
· Support product management work in regional development projects;
· Provide product & technical support to sales team upon request;
· Manage engineering to order and customization projects as project manager, by working with design, sales, purchasing, vendor, customers etc;
· Provide all necessary product training to both internal sales & external partners;
· Provide product market competition analysis and create sales tools to support sales;
· Organize feedback and follow up on product related issues, like quality;
· Research Cooling Solutions business and Market intelligence

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:

Offer support
· Identify and manage local sales tools requests (e.g. white papers, competitive comparison);
· Manage application engineering requests and direct them to appropriate team;
· Coordinate all product quality issues follow up and make sure they are addressed at adequate level;
Marcom support
· Initiate and provide support to marcom team for sales tools local developments;
· Make sure marcom tools are updated and available to sales teams and customers in local languages
· Be responsible for accuracy and quality of information given in marcom tools, (features, performance)
Sales support
· Deliver customized design product;
· Provide training on technical and product issues to sales teams;
· Provide support on technical and product issues to sales teams for specific jobs upon request,

SCOPE & SIZE:

· Report to Cooling Product Management, dotted line to Cooling Engineering Mgr
· Territory is Greater China (including China mainland, Taiwan & Hong Kong)
· Main language is Mandarin, and English is also a must
· Travel required inside GCN area, ( 1 to 2 per month)
· Overseas travel are requested (1~3 per year)

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION – MINIMUN REQUIRED LEVEL:
· Bachelor (University degree) in Cooling, Mechanical Engineering or MBA (Marketing Business Administration)
· Master in Cooling, Mechanical Engineering or MBA is desirable but not necessary

EXPERIENCE – MINIMUM REQUIRED:
· With minimum 5 years experience in product management, application Engineering or R&D function for cooling or data center equipments;
· Precision cooling is preferred;

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS 1 – REQUIRED:
· Technical: knowledge on cooling product technologies;
· Marketing: good understanding of market trends, customer requests & applications, market competition; expert in market research;
· Applications: understanding of applications in various environments, large data centers, small & medium size data centers, server rooms, Industry, Telco & network closets;
· Project Management: lead customization design project of short project cycle and simplified project process;
· Good sell skill communication and Hard working spirit;
· Open minded and supportive to other team members.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS 2 – DESIRED BUT NOT ESSENTIAL:
· Respectful to company rules and behavior guideline
· Concept of TQM( Total Quality Management);
· Networking;

Shanghai R&D Center ------ HBN
·Specialize in surge and line conditioner technologies.
·Build expertise in embedded systems and UPS technology starting with derivative projects starting in 2009.
·With UPS experience, build China customer expertise for Home segment projects.
Charter
To design, develop and bring to market solutions for HBN customers using APC's mature solution concept prioritization, research and PMP methods. The solutions will be made of robust subsystems that can be easily reused in other HBN products. Whenever possible, and within product cost and time to market program constraints, trade-offs shall be made in favor of reliability, modularity and scalability/ extensitibility.
We will leverage our location to best integrate product solution architecture with China suppliers of surge protector and components.
We will leverage our location near manufacturing to best utilize the resources that achieve our quality, cost and time to market objectives.
Shanghai R&D Center ------ R&C
·Lead the market World Wide, with Best in Class Rack & Power distribution, Cooling solution & related Service for Data Center, Industry & Building Environments.
·Pursue a Clear Leader Strategy in Racks & Accessories, Power Distribution Units and Service
·Maintain Challenger Strategy in Cooling with pushing highly innovative Solutions and targeting top of mind IT Decision maker issues
Primary Mission
Create profitable product solutions in support of PMP Product Roadmap initiatives and create value for our Customers worldwide.
Key Accountabilities
·New product design creativity and implementation excellence.
·Innovate through technology.
·Develop PMP capability on all product families.
·Initiate and support In-Region vendor selection/development for technical product applications.
·Support Manufacturing Operations as In-region product/process technical resource.
·Assist Factory Operations in product trouble-shooting and theory of operations training.
·Support PMP sourcing (initial & second source) and Value Engineering initiatives on technical applications.
·Facilitate In-region compliance approvals to support Zone Sales initiatives.
·Support Zone as In-region product expert.

·The Shanghai R&D Center will use Engineering Administration resources from IT Business in US to support Oracle and Notes data entry; and Patent and Environmental consulting and administration. Sharing of knowledge and skill between Shanghai and all engineering groups in all locations is required to be successful.
