Innovation Engineering Group in Microsoft Research Asia is looking for strong Research Software Development Engineers to take good research ideas, prototypes to the next level.

- As a development lead, you are accountable for shipping high-quality production grade software on schedule. MSR Asia has a comprehensive research portfolio ranging from mobile to large network systems, from graphics to search technology. You will be the engineering champion to make them a part of Microsoft product lines. You will act as the product design architect; lead the technical investigation/definition and estimation of key features.

- An ideal candidate must be an expert on Microsoft software development life cycles with a deep understanding of key Microsoft platform technologies. You should possess strong technical background and good grasp of software engineering principles, exceptional problem solving, design, programming, and debugging skills. A demonstrated ability to come up-to-speed quickly on a new technical domain is presumed. You will need to effectively work with both internal (research) and external partner (product) teams and dependencies, to find win-win solutions that are mutually beneficial.

Successful candidates should have a solid track record of shipping production software. If you are passionate about the latest software innovations and opportunity to work on version 0 software, this is a great position for you.

Qualifications:

- 8+ years of experience designing, coding and shipping professional software across multiple releases

- Excellent C/C++/C# design, coding, and debugging skills

- 2+ years of experience managing/leading engineering teams of 5 or more through complete product ship cycles

- Solid understanding of MS product technology and development methodology

- Strong leadership skills with proficiency in architecture, design and technology evaluation

- Excellent communications / customer interfacing skill and ability to deal with ambiguity and prioritize issues

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related field required. Advanced degrees are a plus.
