About the role
We are now looking for an Advisor – Trader Accounts, with the main aim of assist the facilitation of relationships with Chinese domestic trading companies, with the ultimate aim of supporting the
Singapore commercial team to optimise the value of the iron ore portfolio.
The role will support Manager Trader Accounts to engage primarily with trading company
customers to provide comprehensive and robust commercial input into RTC’s development and
implementation of the overall market strategy for trading company customer.

Reporting to the Manager Trader Accounts, you will be:
- Assist relationship management of trading customers and provide critical input for
objectively assessing the commercial merits and ranking of these customers.
- Facilitation of new business opportunities and ensuring that customer performance is
executed in accordance with contractual terms.
- Assist in the analysis of traders’ requirements, business models and other market
intelligence to facilitate the development of RTC’s optimal placement strategy, in
conjunction with other teams to achieve the best outcome for RTIO overall on short and
long term sales.
- Accountable for input into, and execution of, our stakeholder management and customer
plans and support negotiations for all trading companies to ensure that RTC’s commercial
objectives are achieved.
- Engage closely across the RTIO China team to ensure that customer engagement
activities are aligned across the full customer base in China.
- Assist develop a deep understanding of the current and potential customers as well as for
iron ore trader market in China, collecting and collating timely market intelligence and
feedback from customers across markets and products.
- In collaboration with customers and the RTC Pacific Sales teams, identify market
opportunities and threats in a timely manner so that market insights that emerge from such
interactions can be proactively converted into delivered and measured actions in a timely
manner.
- Actively support group initiatives such as PDP through cross collaboration with RTIO
commercial teams and assist in executing these initiatives.
- Coordinate short-term sales opportunities with regional sales teams, make
recommendations for optimal go to market strategies.
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- A recognized University degree
- At least 3 years of progressive experience in the sales & marketing, or similar commercial roles in the commodities sector
- Prior experience in managing both domestic and international business, and able to view business from an international and unbiased lens
- Demonstrated experience in high value contract negotiations including value trade-off experience
Knowledgeable in physical/derivative trading of iron ore products
- Ownership and self-starter, ability to navigate and thrive in a pioneering setup within a large mining and metals organization
- Demonstrated experience in project management, and working through a networked organisation in achieving results.
- Ability to multitask, prioritise and organise a number of concurrent projects under tight time pressure.
- Good communication and interpersonal skill (verbal & written) In English and Mandarin.
It will also be beneficial if you have:
- Knowledge of Rio Tinto Iron Ore operations
